The First Day of Spring: A Good Time to Set a Goal, No?
March 20th, 2008
The correlation is far too obvious, I can hardly bring myself to mention it, really, I am struggling here, so torn! No, not really, I just have to say it! Spring is here!!!!!!!!! A time of re-birth, new growth, and search engine optimization realization! What better time to kick start an old rusted website or to water the seeds of a fresh one? I’m feeling inspired, or maybe it’s just exhilaration I’m feeling thinking about the wearisome Washington clouds parting to allow the sunshine to come through. Any way you slice it…WOOHOO!!!
I hope we can use the inspiration of spring to propel us (and our websites) on towards success. In order to measure growth and success we must first take a cogitative look at our current standings. Next, we need to set goals and make a plan to reach them. These plans should include a page by page breakdown of the website, an estimated marketing budget (yes, SEO tactics CAN cost money), and specific strategies. Strategies will include but are not limited to, submitting your site to blogs and various directories, keyword marketing, pay-per-click programs…but we’ll go into that at detail when the time comes.
Here is a malnourished outline to help get you started. I give you the task of fattening it up…
1. Assess current standings
2. Set Goals
3. Plan
a. page by page assessment
b. marketing budget
4. Strategies
a. submitting website to directories
b. keyword marketing
c. PPC program
If you find any of these terms to be confusing, do not fret, your enlightenment will follow in the days to come. Now if the promise of enlightenment combined with the rays of spring doesn’t get you a little pumped then I cannot help you, my brother. Viva La Spring!
